Drinking and Driving
This paper presents ideas and beliefs about drinking and driving. The papers contents will attempt to persuade ones belief about how drinking and driving affect life. Each year many lives are lost because of drinking and driving, and the carelessness associated with it. Drivers, who choose to drink and drive, are disregarding safety while driving. Fatality rates have increased and will continue to increase. The number of drivers is increasing, and the population is increasing too.
Attempts to stop, or even slow down drunk drivers by the local police departments continues to increase. The amount of money spent to address and tackle the problem is enormous. Breathalyzer tests, speed cameras, and extremely steep fines used to deter the drinking and address the driving issue. The Department of Transportation and Highway Safety have composed safe driving campaigns. This is a continual problem for the public and the Safety Department. Mothers against Drunk Driving (MADD), is an organization used to propagate the safe driving theory. MADD supports the victims from drunk driving and intends to push the program hard. According to MADD, “In 2008, an estimated 11,773 people died in alcohol-impaired traffic crashes. Three in every 10 Americans will be involved in an alcohol-related crash in their lives,” (MADD, 2010, pg. 1).
Just about every business or organization speaks out to his or her employees about drunk driving and try to influence them to take the right approach. Many organizations also donate to MADD. According to MADD, “Even those who have not been directly touched help pay the $132 billion yearly price tag of drunk driving. But together we can eliminate drunk driving,” (MADD, 2010, pg. 1).
