The three companies that I chose were M and S Blacktop, J and M Connections, and Magic Mountain Fun Center. M and S Blacktop and J and M Connections are fairly similar in how their operations are run while Magic Mountain is different. The first two companies deal with positions that use highly skilled workers while the last company hires anyone.
With both M and S Blacktop and J and M Connections their operations are pretty much the same. Both companies have inputs that relate to allies with suppliers, use and develop raw materials, consist of labor, and deal with customers on a personal level. The outputs are also the same. Both companies provide a service to their customers. The difference is in the operations. With M and S Blacktop their operations consist of certain skills, using machines, and experts. As for J and M Connections their operations consists of skills and the knowledge of the job. The difference in the two is the use of experts. M and S has highly skilled experts doing their estimates and working on the black top crew. J and M hires skilled workers to run fiber optic line and hook up computer systems but you do not have to be an expert to work there.
Magic Mountain on the other hand is somewhat different. While the input is like the other two companies consisting of hired labor, dealing with suppliers, using raw materials, and dealing with customers, the operations is a little different and so is the output. At Magic Mountain the operations consist of knowledge, skills, and using machines. The output is different because they deal with goods as well as services. They still need to provide a service to the customers but, they also sell food and drinks as goods. With the selling of food they are much like McDonalds in the example from chapter 12. They have to have the skills to work the machines to put out the best product in the shortest amount of time to make the customer happy.
