Components of Computer Systems and Their Proper Use
Abstract
The diverse array of computers and their uses calls for an examination of the components of each computer systems. Different input and output devices can be procured to fit any task thereby increasing efficiency in the completion of that task. Additionally, the components used in constructing a computer system will directly impact the speed of that system and the efficiency with which it completes assignments.
Components of Computer Systems and Their Proper Use
The use of computer systems to accomplish tasks large and small has become a fact of our daily lives. Lost on many casual computer users are the various components that make up a computer system and the proper and efficient combination of these components. Important also is the data fed through a computer system. Computer systems cannot be expected to generate accurate results if no thought is given to the data used as input. This paper will consider the components of a computer system, their function within that system, the data fed into the system, and the proper handling of the output from the system.
Data Input Methods
Data can be inputted in a variety of ways. The following scenarios will address various input methods and their optimum application.
a. Printed questionnaires ' The best method of data collection for printed questionnaires could be either optical character recognition software (OCR) or optical mark recognition software (OMR). The type of questions and answers employed by the questionnaire will determine which method is used. For instance, if multiple choice answers are offered then OMR collection would be used to scan for filled bubbles next to the answers. The best way to collect written answers, like essays, would be OCR software capable of recognizing letters.
