Electricity has brought change to life in so many different ways. It is not the raw form of electricity that brought such a change to our lives and this country. It when a scientist figured out how to harness and reproduce this source of energy, which shaped and changed the world as we k now it today.
The year is now 2008 and nearing 2009 and most of everything we use from lights to hand held devices require some form of electrical power. In the 1700’s Benjamin Franklin began investigating how to put electricity to use, “By the year 1900 the electrification of the United States, Europe, and Japan began” (Karam 2001). In just the short time of a hundred years we went from candle light to light bulbs and from telegraphs to video conferencing. All of these forms of technology were made possible by the use of electricity. A direct example of how electricity brought a technological change to something as ancient as farming, is the invention of the electrical motor. With this invention in use the production rate increased and no more relying on animal power, “Virtually unlimited power was available at anytime ( Karam 2001 ). Electricity will always be at the head of inventions to come, either used in the idea itself or used to power the machine that makes the product. The effects of electricity are all around down to the simple things like a wrist watch, whether digital or dial the prescence of electricity is there by the use of a battery.
America amongst many other countries are operated by the use of electricity. It is one of the most commonly used sources of power used throughout the world. Even our economy is effected by electricity with lost means the lost of communication and money, which can be a direct effect in our lives. This form of power is constantly changing lives as we know it from our communication skills to the way we learn.
