Confucianism and the existence of Chinese dictatorship in modern time.
China has a long history and Confucianism is one big part of its heritage. Appearance around 500 BC, Confucianism values on loyal, education, prosperity, harmony, and morality. With 2,500 years of existence and development, Confucianism has affected much on Chinese policies. However, Confucianism has not been all time put a head in Chinese policies. China in modern time is an example. Chinese Communist Party first denied Confucianism when it took controlling the country. Chinese Communist Party then applied the Marx ideal on Chinese society but it did not work well. The country fell in poverty, and then, China returned to its traditional value, Confucianism. China came to capitalism in operating the production sector. The prosperity came back to China again. However, the existence of Confucian values in Chinese modern time will challenge the controlling of Chinese Communist Party.
First, look at the basic value of Confucianism. Confucius himself lived in the war national era in China. Faced with an unstable China, Confucius tried to find a hook that everyone would understand. His solution: harmony. The concept was familiar with all Chinese, that everything has its equal opposite for a natural balance. Taken to the societal level, he believed that societies and nations would be more stable if there were a two-way flow of duties: the people's duty to work for the development of the state would be balanced by the government's duty to care for the people and to provide for their welfare. The second principle of Confucius is morality. If everyone had morality, they would not need to be governed. The government would not need to regulate, impose fines or use the law to punish. State intervention would then be at a minimum, leading to efficient government. China has implemented Confucianism over the last 2,500 years and each time it has worked for long periods.
