Daoism and Confucianism are classified as two of the three philosophies from ancient China. Confucianism is a philosophy based on the teachings of Confucius, as recorded in the collection called Analects. While Daoism is a belief system said to have begun with the sixth-century-B.C. philosopher Laozi. It also emphasizes living in peace and harmony. And I believe that they are mostly different than they are alike.
For the people who believed in Confucianism, they honor and respect their ruler and the people. On the other hand, the people who believed in Daoism live simply and do not disrupt the nature’s way. Confucianism also focuses on human morality and good deeds. As opposed to Daoism, it has never been a unified religion, but has rather consisted of numerous teachings based on various revelations. Therefore, different branches of Daoism often have very distinct beliefs. Nevertheless, there are certain core beliefs that nearly all the schools share.
Today, Daoism is now carried and adapted to a global context. Daoism is no longer simply a Chinese religious tradition. It is now a global religious and cultural astonishment, existing in Brazil, Canada, Denmark, England, France, Italy, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam and practiced by people of a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds. It is also slowly becoming established in the United States in various forms, with varying stage of connection with the earlier Chinese religious tradition. And the cultures most strongly influenced by Confucianism include those of China, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, and Vietnam, as well as various territories settled predominantly by Chinese people.
All in all, I would definitely say that they are mostly different than they are alike. Both philosophies have different beliefs and had spread in different places. However, they do have some places that are the same such as Korea, Vietnam, and Singapore.
