Introduction
Making decisions on pursuing personal goals, starting a new career or even pursuing an MBA degree requires not only the consideration of the interest and purpose of the goal of the person but also the assessment of the personality of the person to determine if the person is cut out for the choice to be made. There should be a holistic assessment on his interest, skills, values and then his personality. Personality assessment and personality tests are commonly used nowadays to determine if the person is cut out for a certain career or profession or field of work. Personality could be assessed based on the individual's own perception of himself or how others perceive him. One of the pioneer theorists on personality assessment was Carl Jung who posited the idea that every person has two functions in his live. The first function is perceiving information through either the senses or through mere perception. The second function is making decisions based either on subjective feelings or based on objective logic.
Pursuing an MBA degree is both an academic and professional path which has become critical nowadays because the competition for attaining promotions and having a better job or position requires not only work experience but a more comprehensive educational background. A person deciding to pursue an MBA degree may perceive attaining an MBA degree because he feels like it, it is his personal interest or maybe he perceives it as a necessity based on the societal indication. Then he may make a decision based on his feelings or based on his logic. Does this mean then that personality assessment is very vital in every step in making personal decisions such as pursuing an MBA degree?
