Dear Heidi Hoyt:

I was interested to see your job posting on Monster for an entry level opportunity directed towards a person with an accounting or finance background, and would like to learn more about this opportunity. I read about your company in on the First Energy website and feel my accounting background, and strong communication and people skills would add value to your team.
I recently earned my Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from Youngstown State University. During my time at Youngstown State University I received both a Sky Bank Minority Scholarship, and a YSU Department Scholarship. As an accounting student, I learned the importance of teamwork, and how to effectively work in teams with others. I also learned the important accounting skills needed in today’s corporate environment. With real-world models and simulations I learned the exciting world of accounting.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I hope to have the opportunity to discuss the opening with you in person.

Sincerely,

To Whom This May Concern,

There is a reason my friends always hand me the bill to divvy it up, my current employer always looks to me to help organize work functions, and my checkbook always balances at the end of each month. I am extremely detail oriented. The perfect fit for an accounting position.

In the four years that I studied accounting at Youngstown State University I worked as a shift manager at Handel's Homemade Ice Cream and Yogurt. On a nightly basis I was in charge of reconciling all the paperwork with the cash on hand. I believe this gives me great experience in reconciling and minute details.

Once reviewing my resume, I hope to hear back from you very soon.

Thank You!
