Creative Writing "Night”: Diary Entries of
Shlomo Wiesel

{This is only a part of the Shlomo’s diary entries, the first few entries can not be clearly
read and the dates could not be retrieved due to the poor condition that the diary was held
in when it was discovered.}
Entry 22
Todays weather was very mild with some nice modest sun. Quiet superb weather for
my four children, especially for my youngest daughters, Tzipora and Beatrice, to play some
hopscotch. I had a terse gathering with the Jewish council about some issues with Moshe
the Beadle who began to scatter some lunatic cautionary on that we’ll be incarcerated and
brutally abused by soldiers of the Polish army. The Jewish council concluded that this can
not be possible in this placid situation in Sighet and that to not bring up any futile hysteria
to our fellow citizens we should distribute that Moshe the Beadle has gone delirious. I feel

the rest of the members of the Jewish council and decided to put this thought of my mind.

Entry 23
My only son, Eliezer, a wise boy, initiated to study more into Kabbalah. I do not
acknowledge this decision due to that he is thus only a boy. He has his whole life ahead
and studying Kabbalah may await when he is young fellow. Certainly, I will teach him but
not in the moment. After this discussion with my son, we had a lovely dinner which my
wife has made. The dinner consisted of luscious cholent with warm challah. Subsequently,
my children have gone to bed and my wife and I had a dissertation on todays day. Hence,
shortly after my whole family was in bed and asleep, I attempted so too. Thus, I could not
close my palpebra superior due to the racing thoughts on Moshe the Beadle.
 Should we

have listened to him? Thus he might be speaking veracity?
I obligated to compress those ...
