Animal Abuse and Dog Fighting
Animal cruelty is when you beat an animal for no reason, decide that an animal doesn’t need food or water, or when someone neglects the animal completely. Animals also shouldn’t be left outside for days at a time without food or water. They don’t know what they did to deserve the abuse, and they don’t know how to fix it. If someone buys an animal as a companion, they are responsible for that life. If they don’t want that responsibility, they shouldn’t get an animal. If the people can’t take care of themselves, they shouldn’t get an animal.
I think when people decide to get a pet they don’t know exactly how much work it takes to have pets. People buy a dog or a cat and don’t realize how expensive they are. You have to make sure they get shots every so many months, and they have to have plenty of food and water. They need to be trained, played with, and nurtured. Animals only know how to love their owners, and they don’t know how to take care of themselves. They need to be let out to go to the bathroom, and they need to be walked. If people don’t do these things, it is neglect and abuse, and it makes me sick to see people mistreat their animals.
I had a friend who rescued a snake because the previous owners kept him in a tiny tank, and his scales were growing into each other. She had to put him in a bigger tank and just watch the scale stretch out to scars. She also had to train the snake not to be so head shy. He still is because of the abuse he suffered in the other house. They never handled him, so he was wiggly. Eventually, he got used to it and learned to love it. He is the friendliest snake I have met, and when you pet him you can feel his scars along his back. Now that he is older the scars are smaller, but you can still see them a little.
My family and I have rescued two dogs from abusive homes. The first dog we saved was a pound puppy. We think she was beat by a black male because she was very cautious around males...
