Cultural Anthropology

Many different parts of the world have their own levels of power whether it is within the government or just within the civilians. In India they have a caste system which places individuals within their own “category”. The values of the caste system are held strongly. It has kept a sense of order, and peace among the people. There are 5 different levels of the system. First there is Brahman, Kshatriya, Vaishya, Shudra and Harijahs. Within each of these categories are the actual “castes” or Jatis within which people are born, live, and die. The Brahman level consists of the Priests. The Kshatriya level consists of the rulers, warriors, and landowners. The level of Vaishya consists of the merchants. The Shudra level consists of the artisans and the agriculturalists, and the level of the Harijahs consists of “outside” of the caste system. They were once considered as the “untouchables” because they are known to be so dirty that they should not be touched by anyone from the higher caste.

This form of levels that take place in India is what keeps order and peace throughout their society. In the U.S. we have a form of levels that are self made, and that is what keeps everyone “knowing” that they have certain power and money or that they didn’t have certain power.
In the U.S. there are 5 levels of the social structure in the U.S. First there are the upper class, then the upper middle class, then the lower middle class, then the working class then the lower class. In the upper class it consists mainly of top level executives, celebrities, and heirs. They have Ivy League education. Next is that upper middle class who are considered as highly educated and often have graduate degrees. Then there are the lower middle class who consist of semi professionals and craftsman with some work autonomy and typically have some college education. Next there is the working class who consists of pink and blue collared workers, with often low job security and has a high school...
