Analyzing William Penn’s Thoughts
In William Penn document of 1697 he had concerns for the North part of America (Boston, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and Carolina) for these English colonies to come together. William concerns were for the shows brotherly love between the states for military receives. He also stated in the document that he wants the colonies to meet once a year and at least once in two years in time of peace not only see each other during the time of war but in good faith also. He also state in this same document that all colonies business should be heard. And giving a list of direction of a way they should following to help them to better adjust and balance their affairs in all respects for their safety. When William Penn wrote his document he stated that a deputies to debate and resolve as a leader. He believes that the deputies because they are most advisable for better understanding and they have public tranquility and safety. The leader that is appointed has to have the qualities for sense, sobriety and substance. According to Penn he believes that the new union should meet in the most central colony for the ease of the deputies. Penn also believes and stated in his document that the responsibilities of the new government that their business shall be to hear and adjust all matters of complaints or difference between province and province. Penn listed in his document the way to follow the responsibilities because it will show the since of direction on how they should come together as colonies and how they can respect each other and work together.
The information that Penn writes in his document shows that they colonies want to come together and be independent and not be controlled under anyone that will not help them and only bring them to war. The document shows that the colonies want...
