My article is, "Alabama standoff drags on as town grieves for bus driver". So what happened was that on tuesday afternoon a man boarded a stopped school bus with 21 children in it in Midland City, Alabama and was demanding 2 children in between the ages 6-8. So the bus driver ( Charles Albert Poland Jr. ) blocked the gunman's enterance so that he wouldnt hurt the children, so the gunman shot him several times and took a 5-year old boy with him. Charles Poland died and his funeral was held on Sunday in the afternoon. The 5 year old boy is currently held hostage by the gunman ( Jim Lee Dykes ) and police are currently trying to get the boy back to reunite him with his family.
When i read this article it made me think, " why do people do this?". I garauntee that all of us have turned on the news and seen a story about someone getting kidnapped or shot, and when I see these stories I'm always thinking why we live in a world where people hurt one another, and what's the motive behind all of it. These stories always make me sad, because no one deserves to die or be taken away from their family, and when this happens to children it makes me more sad because a child is used to being around their family, and no one knows how they might feel when their taken away from that. For example, the child that is currently held hostage by the gunman has a mild form of autism and he has ADHD, who knows how that child must feel without his parents around.
Therefore, I hope they can get this child and return him to his family before something happens and arrest the man behind all of this. By doing this the family of Charles Albert Poland Jr. and the community of Midland City will get justice and hopefully it will ease their grieving.
