Dark Times
Part 1 It was a day to remember, centuries of darkness at an end. The rule of Raal had ceased. I am Sedian Bower, this is my story. It was a gloomy day, as usual. My grandfather had stopped by to check in on his favorite grandson or so he says."Have you picked a wife yet?"Grandfather said."Grandfather, I'm only 8 years old. Girls are gross!"I replied quickly. Always feeling as if he was testing my wits. My grandfather was well respected and feared throughout the lands for reasons unknown to me at the time."Here's three books you will read before winter's end, the grandson of Zedicus Bower will be well rounded and prepared for whatever road he is placed!"Zedicus said with a stern voice, as he patted me on the back of the head and left as abruptly as he had arrived. I lived with the Wilders, they were a quiet and honest people. Sometimes I felt as if they were machines made to look after my needs. I always had food and a roof over my head, but longed to be near my kin. However brief and distant my grandfather's visits were, I always look forward to them. I didn't have any friends, not because I was unsocial but for the simple fact that we had no neighbors. My whole childhood was spent on this mountain I call home, with only the Wilders, my backyard which I knew very well and an occasional visit from grandfather. The years went by quickly, I spent most of my time all alone in my backyard, and I felt most comfortable there. I would always just sit and imagine what it was like was like outside of my home. I had a collection of books from my grandfather over the years. All of which were stories with some kind of lesson in moral goodness or right and wrongs.
