The theory about “Tree of Life” on how all organisms on earth once evolved from one root, with one common ancestor. I do not fully agree with Darwin’s theory on how we all evolved from the same organism. Maybe it is because I can not picture a human as being a flatworm, a fish or even a plant. It’s something to think about, but proving it is something I have to understand and see in order to believe. I stated before, “do not fully agree,” the reason for this is because I do believe we are very much like the chimpanzees. I once saw an episode on the Animal Channel about chimpanzees and how they are so similar to humans. In that episode about chimpanzee, they did studies and countless experiments proving that we are very similar to the chimps. They have human like characteristics in many ways and are highly intelligent animals. There are many reasons to believe why humans evolved from chimpanzees, therefore I do agree with Darwin’s theory on how we humans perhaps evolved from the apes.
There was a great example in the movie of when branches that died out represent the extinct animals, branches that grows represents the evolved and survived animals. I do agree with that theory how animals need to adapt to their surrounding environment in order to survive. Animals need to compete for food and if there are limit amount of food, they will either need to find other sources of food in order to survive. In order for this, they have to learn to adapt and by adapting, animals can increase their percent of survival.
On the example of “natural selection”, Darwin’s discovered different species of finches with different beak sizes - were found in almost two identical islands with the same climate. He noted that finches have different beak sizes is because of the food that they find & eat in their environment. Over many generations, the finches changed anatomically in ways that allowed them to get enough food and survive to reproduce. Before watching this movie, I...
