1) There are many vital and important themes in the film ‘Dead Man Walking’. Discuss and give examples from the film on the following:

a) FORGIVENESS
Before Mathew Poncelet was executed, Mathew confessed his sins with the lord, and asked God for forgiveness.
When Mathew Poncelet admitted to the killing to Sister Helen, Sister Helen forgave Mathew and helped him out.
b) HOPE
When Sister Helen had hope that they would cease the execution of Mathew Poncelet, and that the Families of the victims would forgive him for his actions.
When they hired a lawyer to attempt the stopping of the execution of Mathew Poncelet
c) REPENTENCE
Showed near the end of the movie, when Mathew Poncelet admits his murders and his regret and sorrow to go along with it.
d) LOVE
When Mathew Poncelet’s Mother cried before Mathew was executed and during court…since it showed that she loved him and forgave him for what he had done.
The fact that Sister Helen put the time to help Mathew Poncelet and try to help him out so he could clear his mind and be forgiven by everyone.
“I want the last face you see in this world to be the face of love, so you look at me when they do this thing. I'll be the face of love for you."
e) FAITH
That Sister Helen and everyone else had faith that he could do, and that he would be forgiven by God and that he would go to Heaven.
