Two Heroes
I read about Jackie Robinson and Ruby Bridges. They were both about racism. Both books were called, Teammates and The Story of Ruby Bridges. Jackie Robinson was the first African American to play in the Major League Baseball. Ruby Bridges was one of the four children to go to an all white school.
Jackie Robinson and Ruby Bridges were both one of the first African Americans to accomplish something that changed history. Jackie Robinson and Ruby bridges were both African American. Jackie and Ruby never fought back when other people made fun of them. They were both helpful people to the world. Ruby Bridges and Jackie Robinson were both heroes. Jackie and Ruby changed African Americans lives. They never quit what they were determined to do. They both ignored all the people that were screaming at them and making fun of them.
Jackie was a man when he changed history. On the other hand, Ruby was just a little girl when she changed history. Jackie played for an all white major league baseball team. Unlike Jackie, Ruby went to an all white school. Ruby had Federal Marshal to protect her when she went to school. Jackie didn’t have anyone to protect him when he went to play baseball.
After reading these two books I felt proud to have learned how Jackie Robinson and Ruby Bridges changed our country. They never quit even when things got tough. I felt that Ruby was a brave African American girl for going to an all white school. I felt that Jackie was a brave African American man for playing on an all white baseball team. I think that because of Jackie and Ruby, African Americans have a better life. Jackie and Ruby are heroes to me. They have broken the color barrier because of their determination.
