During the year of December 1993 there were a lot of events
that took place. One of those events was when I was Born. There are also plenty more. Like on
December 2 1993 NASA launches space shuttle Endeavour on mission STS-61.
The goal of this mission was to fix an optical defect on the Hubble Space Telescope. The crew
of this mission was DickCovey, Ken Bowersox, Story Musgrave, Jeff Hoffman, Kathy
Thornton and Tom Akers.
This is only one Major event that happened in December of 1993. There was a Tragedy, it
was the Flood of '93 in the Midwest, the Mississippi and Missouri flooded it was among the most
costly and devastating ever to occur in the United States, with $15 billion in damages.
Besides all the commotion, other things took place, Like Changes with the economy and the
people. As for when, The singer Prince, changes his name to his signature symbol to avoid an
unknown legal problem. Also this was about the time when, Nancy Drew book sales reached 80
million copies and were printed in 14 different languages.
The economy was a lot cheaper than it is today in some ways. Back then we didn’t have to
worry about gas prices the coast was only $1.11 per gallon. One gallon of milk was only $2.86!
The stamp was .29 cents, on the other hand Prices received by domestic producers of finished
goods moved up 0.2 percent in 1993. Following a 1.6-percent advance in 1992 and a dip of 0.1
percent in 1991.
In 1993 a well known celebrity died, Andre the Giant André died in his sleep in a Paris hotel
room. He was in Paris to attend the funeral for his father. It was later concluded that he died of
congestive heart failure, a by-product of the growth hormone-secreting pituitary tumor....
