The company can improve the current workflow in the plant by minimizing the time of its process to manufacture steel-tipped boots. In order to improve the amount of workstations, it seeks to install at least five work stations. Workers will have more resource personnel to deal with their work related issues that can be consolidated by the supervisors. The best way for ShuzWorld to minimize manufacturing time is to organize the assembly line for it to be the most efficient possible with the smallest duration yielding optimal output. By using Assembly Line Balancing it minimizes imbalances between machines or employees on the line, while performing within time parameters and from the work boot assembly schedule provided. Since time to perform tasks, tools needed and sequence of production have been determined can we improve the efficiency. The production layout needs to accommodate production efficiency and quality, therefore resulting in a redesign. To accomplish this, management needs to ensure employee time is maximized. This is accomplished by organizing employees into workstations focusing on the product they are producing. Creating workstations allows for better communication between employees and allows them to cross train better. A functional U-shaped assembly line would be favored over a standard line and reduces the requirement to move frequently during the process.
