Decisions-Making in Buisness

According to the Decision-Making-Confidence Website (2011), "Decision making is about choosing from several options or ideas and taking action to generate a particular result” (Explain the Decision-Making Process To Me, para. 1). Through each step of the decision making process one should use critical thinking to fully analyze the problem or situation. During critical thinking, there are many types of thinking processes one can use. Three examples of thinking processes or methods include logical, creative, and scientific. Each method of thinking has benefits and affects the critical thinking process differently.
Creative thinkers are curious, optimistic, and problem seekers; problems are seen as interesting, opportunities, and emotionally acceptable (Harris, 1998). Logical thinkers have been proven to be smarter than the average person. Normally these thinkers are skilled in Math, and are not quick to reject a problem but to solve it and deepen the results. Scientific thinkers assume regularity in nature, require honesty, have increased objective knowledge, rely on human curiosity, make good use of mathematics, and are non-dogmatic (Utah, 1996). Thus scientific and creative thinkers hold a similarity, as a scientific thinker will rely on the results of a creative thinker to observe and experiment upon for their own results.
Logical thinking is thinking in steps; sequential thoughts that “involves taking the important ideas, facts, and conclusions involved in a problem and arranging them in a chain-like progression” (Logical). In comparison to sequential thoughts, creative thinking evolves over time by using previous methods and improving them or combining them into new ideas; it is similar to thoughts in steps as the improvements and combinations cannot be made until the previous steps of previous methods have been completed.
