 MASK WORK FINAL ENTRY
Through the whole mask unit, I think I got a big improvement in my drama work. From different perspectives, I found what I should improve in my movements and I also learn a lot of skills about how to express what I want accurately from my partner. First of all, when you are performing, you’d better do your movements clearly, let audience know what kind of emotion you are trying to express, if you become impatient, your movements might be accelerated, if you can’t control the rhythm of the movements, everything would go wrong. Second of all, we were working as a group; everyone should learn how to coordinates with each other, two people who touch or talk with each other should show the same level of the emotions. If one of them expresses a strong feeling and the other one shows a plain feeling, when audience compare them, they would feel that actors over-express or less-express their emotions. The performance will become weird. I think working in a group is good for improving our acting skills, I can learn a lot of things from my group members, like how they act by using their legs and arms instead of using their expression, why audience can get sympathy from their movements. For example, when we were rehearsing, one of my partners Bakiza tried to express an extremely sad emotion, although her movements looked perfect, and she exaggerated her movements, but I still felt that something was missing, and then the other group member Erica showed Bakiza her opinions about the movements of this part, and showed her how she acts like if she’s Bakiza’s character. I found she actually “went” into that character, she exaggerate every movements in a good way, and every movements became vivid. All people stood around her can felt that sorrow, that was like she let her sad emotion out and sent it to everyone. I think she could let everyone feels her emotion means she makes the emotion from her heart and let it be her own thing, so...
