Abstract:
My current eating habits fall short of what is recommended by the my pyramid web site. I particularly fall short in the vegetable department. My actual eating habits do not really have anything to do with how the assignment turned out due to the fact that it was a holiday week. I usually do things I really should not do which is go to McDonalds at least 2 times a week for lunch. Drink at least 2 cans of Coke or another type of soft drink. For dinner is am a meat and potatoes kind of guy. My main meat dish usually consist of pork or chicken with beef or sausage thrown in every now and then. When I do go to McDonalds I usually get a Chicken sandwich from the dollar menu and a large sweet tea. Yea, I know that's a lot of sugar, but it really taste good.
Carbohydrates the next most important nutrient, is a source of energy that is easiest for the body to breakdown. I do eat plenty of carbohydrates, but not as much of the good ones as I should. I need to start eating whole grains instead of the plain white breads that I do and change the types of pasta's that I eat. On the bright side I do eat a lot of peanut butter, so there's something positive to work on.
Proteins are needed in metabolism, hormone, antibody and DNA production. Proteins are also an important source for essential amino acids. I eat plenty of meats including chicken and meats with very little red meat. I should add more fish to my diet. When I go out to eat to a real restaurant, If I don't order pasta, I usually will order some type of fish. Salmon and swordfish are 2 of my favorites. Another source of protein I get is from peanuts. I love dry roasted peanuts and peanut butter.
