Indifference may stand as a gap that splits people and this is what I really felt in the life of Belle and his husband. As a couple, I think they relationship wasn’t happy and healthy. I see them as two people living under one roof but not connected with each other. When Belle’s husband narrated that “Belle followed me into my room” and I thought of why he didn’t referred it as “…our room”. There, I sensed a glimpse of their problem as a couple. On the issue of the unequal setting up of the lawn boundary between their neighbors, I thought of it as a situation that triggered the exposing of the true colors and personalities of Belle and his husband. From the criticizing words, flirting and infidelity to insults and violence – it mirrored the current state of their marriage. For instance, the conversation of them in the story showed that the Belle’s husband seemed uninterested with the constant blabbering of his wife who, I believe, is not a contented wife. It’s sad to know that her husband prefer to listen the piano and other music than her voice and her problem. Inside their home, I think they aren’t aware of the internal chaos. If they connect and feel each other in the same way, they shouldn’t reach the stage of opening up the topic of demonstrativeness from their neighbors and personal and trust issues. If only Belle’s husband would listen to Belle with all his heart and if only Belle don’t overreact to the lawn boundary and mind minor things, I think they won’t have an extreme fight with their neighbor. If they could have solved the issue within their house, they wouldn’t have a conflict with their neighbor. I think an effective communication and understanding drive a harmonious relationship but too bad, they don’t have them.
With the issue relating to their neighbor, I can say that the engaging interaction between your neighbors is good but we should define some limits. I really believe that there’s infidelity going on. Belle’s married...
