Don't Kill If Your Not Going to Eat It

I’ve been hunting all my life, and all my life I have been told if you’re not going to eat it, then don’t kill it. I’ve understood that ever since I was little, and I knew that if I just killed something and didn’t eat it was a waste. I have always obeyed this rule, but one of my friends has gone astray from this ethic.
This past weekend my friends and I went four-wheeler riding as we usually do; cutting fool, and looking for hogs to shoot, because they are a nuisance to the crops we have on our land. I had my mind set that I wasn’t going to let him shoot anything tonight besides a hog, because he seems to be trigger happy when something moves. Even when we kill a hog back home we get it processed to eat, so it’s not a waste. We made our usual rounds around the land that my family owns. We had seen plenty of wildlife, and things to shoot, but he still hadn’t shot anything… yet. We were about to head home when the headlights of our four-wheelers came across a deer. He wasn’t going to shoot, but then one of my other friends says shoot. It was just instinct for him to shoot. When he shot I noticed that he had hit the deer, but the deer was still running, so he continued shooting until this deer fell. Now this is the turning point of the story.
Nothing was strange at this point for me. He had just gotten rid of another doe, but then I noticed that the doe’s stomach was kicking. She was pregnant. I have never felt so bad in my life. Not only had he killed the doe, but also a baby deer. It wouldn’t have bothered me if it was just another doe, but the baby was moving around, and I felt like a complete ass for letting my friend shoot this doe.
The feeling that came over me is indescribable. This is something I will never let him do again. I know how I felt so I can only imagine how he felt. His only response was I’m never doing that again. Doing what he did is not something you want to experience or see for yourself, so in conclusion I’m asking that you don’t...
