During their journey Don Quixote and Sancho Panza meet a Duke and Duchess, who conspire to play tricks on them for their entertainment. During his stay the Duke promises Sancho a governorship of an island. They make Majordomo dress up as Merlin and tell Don Quixote that Dulcinea’s enchantment can be undone only if Sancho whips himself on his naked backside three hundred times. Sancho refused to do it, but the Duke told him that, if he refuses to whip himself he won’t be a governor. The desperate need of a governorship made him whip himself. He becomes a governor of a fictitious island, named Barataria. Sancho Panza became a really good governor. Because of that, it was no longer an amusement to the Duke and Duchess. So they came up with a new plan. They screamed and yelled that Barataria was under attack and hid Sancho under a blanket to protect him. But instead of protecting him, they beat him up. Sancho no longer wanted to be a governor, so he returned to Don Quixote.
Cervantes being bothered from this foolishness takes his part back as a writer. Don Quixote and Sancho Panza head to Barcelona. As the knight-errant and his squire reach the city of Barcelona, they were greeted friendly by the residents. But during this delight, Carrasco disguised as Knight of the White Moon appears. Carrasco wanting his revenge challenges him again. Accepting his challenge, Don Quixote was defeated. But Carrasco spares his life and tell him to abstain from seeking adventures, retire to his village and never draw a sword again. Later Don Quixote realizes that he was insane and tells his squire that he is sane now, so they head back to their village. Returning to their village Don Quixote falls into a fever and stays unconscious for several days. Later, when he awakes he felt as if he was dying. He apologizes to his squire for making him believe to see the world as he did. At the last minute of his life he asks his forgiveness to Cervantes. And that was the end of Don Quixote el...
