In the book the leadership secrets of Colin Powell written by Oren Harari, in chapter two he discusses Colin Powell amazing communication and listening skills. He was telling a story of being interviewed by Colin Powell and all he had in his office was a desk and small table. He stated “any meeting with Powell in this little corner of his office was likely to be an intimate one.”(Harari, page 34). I find the way Colin Powell interviews or talks to anybody very special. He gives the person his undivided attention at all times. When he was talking to Oren all that was in between them was a small table. The higher position a person is the harder it is for anyone to confide in you. Being in a higher position makes it difficult for people to get to you and discuss the real problems at hand.
