REPORT OF THE PEER TEAM ON
THE INSTITUTIONAL ASSESSMENT AND ACCREDITATION OF DWIJENDRALAL COLLEGE, KRISHNANAGAR, NADIA, WEST-BENGAL.

SECTION-I: INTRODUCTION.

Dwijendralal College was established in August 1968 as Krishnanagar College of Commerce, which was renamed later as Dwijendralal College in fond memory of Dwijendralal Roy, the great poet and freedom fighter. The College is recognized by UGC under section 12(B) and 2(f). The College has been affiliated to University of Calcutta till 1999 and is now affiliated to University of Kalyani.
The College has Commerce faculty since 1968 and Arts faculty has been introduced during 2003. It has 5 departments-the Departments of Bengali, History, Political Science and Philosophy in Arts faculty and the Department of Commerce. The College offers 3 UG courses-B. Com (Hons and General) and B.A (General). Besides it also offers certificate courses in Hotel Management and Computer Application. The faculty consists of 6 permanent teachers and 9 guest lecturers of which 2 have PhD. There are 20 administrative staff members in the college. The college has had an enrolment of 669 students last year.
The College has a Central Library, Computer Centre, Canteen, and Student Common Room for Boys & Girls besides facilities for indoor games. The college works under annual system. The College has a Governing Body and the Principal is the executive authority.
The College volunteered for assessment and accreditation by NAAC, Bangalore and submitted its self-study report to NAAC. The NAAC constituted a Peer Team consisting of Prof.M.G.Takwale, Vice Chancellor, Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, Pravaranagar, Loni, Maharashtra as Chairperson, Prof Nirala Buragohain, former Principal, Debaraj Roy College, Golaghat, Assam as Member and Prof.Sunil Kanta Behera, Department of Mass Communication, Berhampur University, Berhampur, Orissa as Member Co-Coordinator....
