The Short Stories of Country Lovers and The Welcome Table
The two short stories of Country Lovers and The Welcome Table are two stories that share the same theme about race and ethnicity. Both of these two stories were very touching to my heart after reading them. In these two stories the writers used the literary element of setting to narrow down the theme along with the point of view of the story. The theme behind these two stories both fall under the category of race and ethnicity. Country Lovers and The Welcome Table both have a lot in common under the theme of race and ethnicity as well as many differences in the literary elements between the two of them. The short story Country Lovers by Nadine Gordimer is a wonderful story about the secret love of a young black girl who works on a South African Farm and a young white boy who’s father is the owner of the farm. The young couple has a very secret love affair that is going on, due to their differences of race and the time that it takes place makes the love affair to be very forbidden.
