A community can be defined as a group of people living together in a same locality. The building of a factory in a community will somehow affect the livelihood of the residents. There are advantages and disadvantages of building a factory in a community. Amongst the advantages commonly attributed to building a factory in a community include the development of the community area and increased job opportunities, mainly for the residents. On the other hand, the disadvantages include pollution to the environment and risking the extinction of some floras and faunas

To begin with, when a factory is built, it offers the community with more job opportunities. Consequently, the unemployment rate will be decreased. With more job opportunities, the quality of living will increase as families now have stable incomes. They can have better food, clothes and lead better quality lives as now they could have some luxuries which include better cars and more savings for children’s future educations. Besides that, workers of the factory can also save on transportation because it is nearer and easier for them to go to work. Furthermore, they can spend more time with the family after work, as the travelling time to work has been reduced. In addition, there will be facilities provided by the factories for the use of their workers. Workers can use the facilities after work or during their leisure time. Working out and exercising can keep them healthy and so the productivity of the factory and community will increase. This could also mean better family ties as more time can be spent together with family members.

Apart from that, there will also be more development in the communities[ F4]. This is because when there is a factory built, the factory owner will try to develop the place and build more facilities for the use of their workers as well as themselves.
