The Cause and Effect of Environmental Weakening
We have all heard about global warming, melting glaciers, and increase in sea level and so on. What causes these disruptive events and the effects that they have on environmental degradation are both nature and manmade. The effects of pollution, fossil fuels, over-usage of our natural resources and deforestation are all reasons for environmental degradation. This issue affects more than just the United States. The causes for this are already well known and have been a part of the public eye for some time. A great portion of the cause is through humankind and the increase in population.
With one element of the earth in danger of being destroyed, it influences every living organism on the planet. An example would be of the tribe from Easter Island that cut down all of the trees to make room for vegetation. This resulted in erosion and loss of nutrients from the soil, making the land barren and at risk of being carried away by both wind and water.
Pollution or Industrial waste, is another factor that is further affecting the environment that we thrive upon. When a factory dumps waste into a lake or ocean, they are not just polluting the waters, but are making humans sick through their tap water, and making fish sick because of the substances that they live and breathe in. Chemical compounds: Three natural elements that are toxins when used incorrectly or in excess include Carbon, Phosphorus, and Nitrogen. Phosphorous as discussed as a fertilizer, along with Nitrogen are ingredients used in fertilizer that is widely overused. Overuse is because farmers in the United States use nearly as much fertilizer as the rest of the world, associated with overpopulation.
Carbon, in the form of Carbon Dioxide, the other factor in the toxic elements is produced from...
