What I think this quote means is that do not live your life how another person wants you to. For example live your life the way you want to, not the way your mom or your friends want you to. One a s an adult is in charge of their own lives. If one makes a mistake then people should let them learn from them. I was brought up just as any other kid I believe. My parents would always tell me to be myself. They would tell me to live my life the way I wanted to. Always making sure I was on the right path.
