Do you ever wonder if your vote really does count? Believe it or not, it does. The election of 08’ will be your next chance, including mine, to truly make a difference. Unlike some, I know who, and more importantly why, I am voting for him. For the presidential election of 08’, I’m voting for Barack Obama. I agree with many of his policies, but I am most passionate about the time frame of the war in Iraq. John McCain supports the war in Iraq, unlike Senator Obama.
An Illinois Senator, Barack Obama, stated, “Here is the truth: fighting a war without end will not force the Iraqis to take responsibility for their own future. And fighting a war without end will not make American people safer” (“Project”). I fully agree with Obama in the fact that leaving more responsibility to the Iraqis will push them to take hold of their own government. It’s totally opposite of what President Bush would do, but I think that is why it might work. In addition Obama also states, “that even though there is progress with the security state, the Iraqi government has not stepped forward to lead the Iraqi people and to reach the genuine political accommodation that was the stated purpose of the surge” (“Barack”). According to Barack Obama’s website, “After further reading of Obama’s plan for ending the war in Iraq, additionally, over 4,000 American troops have lost their lives, more than 60,000 have been injured or wounded, and the military equipment is wearing out nine times faster than the normal rate” (“Barack”).

With the military thought so highly of, there should be no reason that the soldier’s equipment disband so fast. Obviously, something isn’t right, since in past wars, this has never happened. There needs to be a change.
