Ender Wiggin, a very young and intelligent boy, who was able to take on Battle School and become the commander of a fleet that would destroy the Buggers and save the planet. After reading Enders Game the theme that I saw in the book was, to learn from your enemies. Throughout Orson Scott Card’s Enders Game, Ender closely assesses the strategies of each of his opponents. This proved to be a large component in making his army unstoppable. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Enders transition into salamander army was rough. The commander of the army, Bonzo Madrid looked down on Ender because he was young and unexperienced in the battle room at the time of his transfer. Bonzo excluded Ender from the battles by placing him in the corner of the room during battles, however Ender took advantage of this time by examining every move the soldiers in the room made. “Even as Ender learned how much he did not know, he also saw things that he could improve on. The well-rehearsed formations were a mistake” (Card p.84). Ender took ever thing he learned while watching the battles into consideration. He used his knowledge from previous battles to train the Launchies. “Free play, every day, working hard in the battle room, under Ender’s direction. They would learn things from the armies, from the battles Ender would see” (Card p. 85). Ender used everything he learned to benefit both himself and the Launchies.
Ender learned his opponents’ strengths and weaknesses during his time in and out of the battle room. He spent countless hours closely examining the opposing side’s formations and strategies. Ender was able to learn new strategies from the 1st and 2nd bugger invasion videos. Although the videos were “short and unexplained” Ender was able to interpret the buggers every
