Give the author, title and the year of first publication.
The author is Ian McEwan and the title of the book is Enduring Love. The book was first published in 1997. (It has three dots)

How would you describe the genre of this book?
I would describe it as a thriller (the sub-genre is Psychological thriller) because the book is very mysterious and the main character (Joe) has a conflict - mental and emotional - with another character (Jed). Jed stalks Joe and no one believes him not even Clarissa (his wife) or the police.
Give a list of the main characters and describe their role.

Joe Rose – He is the main character and aged 47. He writes about science and his girlfriend is Clarissa. He meets Jed Parry during a balloon accident. Jed Parry is obsessed with him and he writes him several letters. Jed hires two men to kill Joe but this action fails. Joe buys a gun to protect and defend himself against Jed.

Clarissa Mellon – She is Joe’s girlfriend and researching about the poems of John Keats. When Jed stalked Joe, Clarissa first did not believe him but in the end when Jed threatens her with a knife she regrets she did not believe him directly.

Jed Parry – His age is twenty-eight, he has no work and he is living on an inheritance in Hampstead. When he is obsessed with Joe he thinks Joe is in love with him. Joe presumes Jed has Clérambault’s syndrome (kind of Delusional disorder).
