Death of Elvis Presley
(What happened)
On August 16,1977 at 3:30 p, at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Elvis Presley was pronounced dead by his personal physician, Dr. George Nichopoilos. The death was to be said “ Cardiac Arrhythmia” because Elvis had suffered irregular heartbeat. But the reason for such irregularity of heartbeat remained unknown. Elvis was found lying on his bathroom floor in his Memphis mansion by his girl friend Ginger Alden. There was no evidence of illegal drugs found at his home, but there were many drugs prescribed by his doctor. It was said that he took too heavy doses of pills.

Why this tragic event was so important to everyone was because Elvis Presley was know as the “king” of Rock ‘n’ Role, and now that death had snatched their idol, the only way they could find solace was if they believed Elvis had come back alive. Even though Elvis didn’t come back alive he is still remembered today as the king of Rock ‘n’ Role.
Leopold Simoneau’s last performance

Simoneau decided he didn’t want to sing anymore but to spend more time with his family and become a teacher. After his final public appearance on November 24, 1970, he moved to California in 1972 with his wife and two daughters where he taught at the San Francisco Cons. He also taught at the Banff SFA in 1973-1976 before settling in Victoria, BC in 1982. With his wife he then directed and founded the Canada Opera Piccola.

Why this man is so important is because Simoneau is considered one of the most distinguished Canadian singers of the century. His international reputation as a Mozart singer is confirmed by his presence at major festivals and events dedicated to him, as well as his music. He is honoured also as an interpreter of French music both on stage and in concert halls.
