Obsession with Social Media
Social media has changed the way of life around the world. With new and faster ways to communicate with one another, social media has become very popular among all age groups. Communicating with family or friends on the other side of the world is no longer a challenge nor expensive. The ease of use and real time posting has taken the world by storm and is used by billions of people around the globe. It is now used by both personal users and businesses alike. Methods of communication such as mailed letters, long distance phone calls, and even emails are becoming things of the past. Every day, more and more people are opening accounts to social media sites, and it seems like every six months or so, a new social media site is being introduced. The emergence of social media in today’s society has had both positive and negative effects on many people in many different ways, including the people who do not use or have any interest in the various methods of social media that are available today. But has social media become an obsession, or is it simply technology helping us make things easier and providing more ways to communicate with more people at once? It has truly changed the way of life both today and the days to come on a personal level as well as in the professional world.
Since its inception in 1975, the personal computer has now become a staple of just about every home and many jobs. Although a majority of people around the world have a PC at home, they are not used quite as often as they might have five years ago. Written letters have become a very uncommon practice and we see more and more people communicating through social media rather than mailing letters or even sending emails for that matter. Technology has evolved so much that now we don’t even need a computer to check our emails or go on the internet.
