Jeremiad: “Summer Work”
What is summer work? Well, some people believe that it is a series of assignments that must be completed before school starts to get ready for school. In my opinion, I believe it can be a time-consuming amount of work that disables you from hanging out with friends or completing the whole Grey’s Anatomy series on Netflix. Yes, I know doing summer work is important to prepare the students for school, but it takes time away from our vacation. Watching Netflix for more than twelve hours a week is not only unhealthy and of no importance, but it is fun and relaxing. Every day, I wake up and go to work as a lifeguard until about 9pm. At 9pm, I will not be in the mood to come home and do APUSH essays or AP Chemistry math problems. Instead, I’m going to want to lie on the couch and watch a good movie or go to bed early since I will have to wake up early again in the morning. Some people do not work everyday for 10 hours like me, so it is more understandable that they get their summer reading and assignments finished. Tennis season starts mid-August, and have I even been practicing? No. You want to know why? Because I have to go to work all day every day. And on days I don’t have work; I will be doing my summer reading and homework. Not only, am I stressed about my job and my school work, I am also stressed about my tennis progress. I guess I will just try my best to do all my work and complete my tasks and hope for the best.
