In the following paragraphs you will read about my carbon footprint which I calculated by using the feature on the website called http://footprint.wwf.org.uk. I will explain why my carbon footprint is what it is and how I could make adjustments to my lifestyle and improve my carbon footprint. After that I will click onto the website again to do the carbon footprint calculator again and find out my improved score.
I have now been onto the website for the first time to answer the questions to get my score. My score is 1.59 Planets. My carbon footprint is like this because I use more public transport than walk to places that I need to go to. I could improve on this by walking very often and hardly ever using the car in the week or month for a start. Also I need to avoid buying over packaged products so that if people see other people buying low packaged items they will think and say we should do this to. Another factor that I need to reduce is keep the temperature average than putting the temperature reasonably high which will cost an awful lot. I could improve on this by lowering the temperature to a reasonable and cost effective temperature. A further thing I could do is cut down on dairy and meat products because of major land needed to store fish products. If this takes up more space then this means more building will be made for storage and this will cause pollution.
I need to not leave electric appliances on stand-by because that uses a lot of electricity, which is very expensive to pay. For example, if you leave a digital set top box on stand-by it would be still using as much electricity as it would if it was actually switched on. I could improve on this by I also need to buy more seasonal food than buy food that has been shipped of that has travelled across the world and buy at my local supermarket because it would save up on a bunch of wasted plastic used for no reason. I need to also reuse envelopes and jiffy bags so that I do not waste paper and...
