In recent weeks there has been a political debate that German should be spoken at school. When German parents catch their kids from school they are often very amazed when they hear Turkish kids talking Turkish and in the other corner Italian kids talking Italy. But such a possibility to be able to speak more than one language is a very good advantage.
In the following essay, I want to show the pros and cons. On the one hand they are many advantages why German should be the only language spoken at school.
Firstly, the official language in Germany is German, so that it´s quietly self-evident that each person should speak German here and it´s also necessary. You need it always in everyday life. For example when you go to the cinema and you want to be able to communicate with the shop assistant. Furthermore, each person has to study in German and write his final exams in the official language. You will need German forever.
Moreover, foreign children create their own groups and cliques. Often they don´t really communicate with their German classmates. A problem is for example that the German kids think that the others backbite about them which can lead to fights between the kids of immigrants and the German kids. To prevent the emergence of such misunderstandings, it´s important that these kids are forced to speak German.
As a result of the consistent language at school, new friendship between German children and Children of migrants could be create, when they all speak German together.
In addition they learn better the German language which is an advantage anyway. Often children of immigrants have many problems with the German language. They have also bad grades, so if they would speak German more often, they would improve their language and their grades at school.
On the other hand, German shouldn´t be the only language spoken at German schools, because it´s a very good advantage to be able to speak more than one language fluently of which you can make use....
