Media influence on teenagers
At present, human society is quickly moving into the information era, media has played a significant role in people’s life. However, while many people are enjoying the benefits brought by the media, there have raised a public concern about whether the extensive existence of media will have some negative influences, especially on teenagers. Many arguments have been proposed and the main proves of why mass media has a bad effect on youth is because it can easily mislead impressionable teenagers, expose them to violent contents, and affect their health, studies and interpersonal communication.

First of all, teenagers are not suitable to be exposed to media too much because they are easily influenced and get attracted by misleading information. Nowadays, exaggeration and false facts are always present in order to get the results that media producers want. Most of the time, adults can distinguish the right and wrong correctly due to the experience accumulated throughout years. However, since teenagers are lack of life experience and general knowledge, they may consider many misleading information as a matter of fact. For instance, youth will smoke, drunk just like some brave, cool adults in the movies, whereas adults will know those actions are bad for health and choose not to follow them. What is worse is that according to a news report from Jingling Evening News, a 12-year-old girl in Nanjing province committed suicide just because she wanted to reincarnate into a princess in ancient time due to a very hot “time-travel” TV series which was on at that time. (Liping Su, 2013). The reason for why the tragedy would happen seems to be obvious.
