Some people want to live, but some wants to die. Who gives that person the right to live or die? Some says god, the mighty divine that created this world. How about people that are atheist, people that reject the belief in the existence of deities. There are also laws that are protecting people life. Every human beings have the right to live the life they want. Choosing their own purpose of life is the main reason to live. Whether to live their life in action or to the end that life. Even if it is to use euthanasia to end one’s life for the sake of happiness. Some people might consider suicide is immoral or a sin, but in reality, it might be happiness (self-interest) for that person.
In early Western intellectual history, many viewpoints have shown that humans aren’t built to look out for other people interest, but their own. As a meta-ethical theory of motivation, psychological egoism asserts the descriptive claim that all of our actions can be reduced to self-interest. Ethical egoism is a normative theory that states that our actions ought to be done from the perspective of self-interest. “The reason we should treat others the way we would like to be treated is that it give us a good chance of receiving just such treatment; we do it for ourselves, not for others.” (Rosenstand, 2009) For instance, there was a bank robbery, the robber pointed the gun at an accountant, there is this person named John, it seems like John wanted to stop the robber. Supposing John is an ethical egoist, John view is that everyone ought to act to benefit themselves. John did not want to save the accountant, but he wants to die because he slowly dying due to a painful disease. In conclusion people should always act so as to benefit themselves.
