The argument between the importance of physical beauty and inner beauty has always been a subject of controversy. Beauty can be defined as characteristics or attributes that appeal to other individuals. Some people believe that physical beauty is more important in life. Other people believe that the importance of inner beauty is much greater. Both types of beauty play large roles in the lives of everyone in society. Although the opinions of some people may differ from the opinions of others, there are really no correct answers as to whether physical beauty or inner beauty is more essential and important. As the popular cliché says, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” Both types of beauty have their own advantages.
To some people, physical beauty can be classified as one’s appearance on the outside or their personal hygiene. It may be defined by characteristics such as a smooth complexion, correct body proportions, symmetrical facial features, bright eyes, and a beautiful smile. Confidence is one very essential aspect of physical beauty. People who are blessed with physical beauty have the tendency to catch the eyes of people around them, which can boost their confidence and self-esteem.
Physical beauty has taken a major role in society these days. Many people who obtain physical beauty are perceived as inviting, honest, successful, content, friendly, intelligent, sociable, exciting, creative and busy. On the other hand, people who lack physical beauty are often times perceived as unsociable, discontent, lazy, unintelligent, unimaginative, unfriendly, unsuccessful, boring, plain, non-accessible, and dishonest. The problem with these misconceptions is that people have the mindset that these stereotypes are acceptable to use. A physically attractive person may not be happy, fun, or honest.
