Everything Success When Thomas Edison invented the incandescent light bulb in the late 1800’s he was obviously hailed as a success. But what made him successful was not his invention of the light bulb to help light up buildings all across the world. What made Edison successful was the 5,000 times he failed at creating the light bulb! In an interview Edison was asked by a reporter, “Mr. Edison, how can you continue to try and invent the light bulb when you have failed over 5,000 times.” Edison responded by saying, “Young man I have not failed 5,000 times. I have successfully discovered 5,000 ways that do not work and I do not need to try them again.” For a more recent and modern story of success we can turn to Michael Jordan, one of the best basketball players ever to play the game. Michael Jordan is quoted having said, “I've failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed.” As you can see success is even viewed from “successful” or “famous” people as failure, this is not an excuse to fail but most of the time we succeed because of or through failure. You have to hit that round ball on a round bat squarely and hope it finds a place between eight other people. When you have these kinds of odds against you there isn’t much you can do, you will not get to bat one hundred times and get the ball safely between eight other men one hundred percent of the time, not even fifty percent of the time. You will be...
