Expository Paragraph: The Best of d’Youville
There are many clubs, teams and extra-curricular activities offered at St. Marguerite d’Youville. But, in my opinion, the best by far is d’Youville drama. Whether you join the tech crew, the cast, or you’re chosen as a stage manager, you get to have fun, make new friends, and work as a team. If you audition for drama or join the tech crew, you will be provided with a great source of entertainment. You will enjoy building and painting sets or working on your very own character. You can make new friends, too. Your fellow actors work with you to put together the play, and if you join the tech crew you are allowed to talk a lot and assist each other. Also, operating together makes the play so much better. Just like a sports team, the actors and crew work together to reach a goal- but instead of beating another team, your goal is to put on a successful production. So, if you’re new to d’Youville, or wanting to join a club, then look no further. Having great enjoyment, meeting new people, and functioning as a team make drama the best extra-curricular at d’Youville.
Descriptive Paragraph: The Boogeyman
There is something in my room with me, waiting for me to fall asleep. I see the shadow of my window shades against the door. It looks menacing and eerie. I close my eyes and see nothing. I strain to hear something, anything, in the ominous silence of my room. And then… I hear ever-so-quiet, shallow breathing near my ear. I taste my own blood as I bite my tongue to keep from screaming. It has a bitter, metallic tang to it. I feel myself shaking as I lie here, unable to think properly. I sense a cool draft of wind breezing past my ear. It is breathing on me! My muscles tense and I feel pain shooting throughout my body. I am paralyzed; I cannot move.
