Extract 4
What is important about this scene and what it reveals of the relationship between Mickey and Edward?
There are many important scenes throughout this extract and most of them reveal important things between mickey and Edwards relationship.
Throughout the book Mickey and Edwards relationship has been strong but, throughout this extract it takes a turn for the worst. To start off with Mickey takes Edawrd hostage in the Council offices. Throughout this short paragraph you get the scenes that they are thinking over their relationship and Mickey starts coming to terms with what he wants in his life ‘’Because there was one thing left in my life. Just one thing I had left, Eddie -Linda-‘’ which have not seen a lot of from Mickey. Another important scene in this extract is when Mickey reveals to Eddie that his very own mother revealed that Eddie and Linda were having an affair. Edawrd doesn’t seem faved by this and says ‘’Mickey, I don’t know what she told you but Linda and I are just friends’’.
At this point Mickeys temper does flair and starts getting aggressive and starts shouting at Edward, which In turn really damages Mickeys and Edwards relationship throughout this extract. Also when Mickey shouts ‘’I could kill you’’ you and tell there is no coming back for their relationship. Mickey starts to become paranoid when he thinks his own child is Edwards instead of his. When the policemen enter that is another important scene in the Extract because Mickey comes to terms with what he has done and starts to regret it. ‘’What am I doing here Eddie? I thought I was going to shoot y’. But I can’t even do that’’. This is an important scene in their relationship because Mickey doesn’t want to shoot Edward because they are so close now at this point and things are starting to get better.
Also an important scene is when Mrs Johnstone enters because you can tell both boys feel like it is between them and not her at this point they both seem...
