FACTORS AFFECTING EMPLOYEE MOTIVATION
Increased employee motivation and productivity can be achieved through creation of work environment that maximizes the factors that affect employee motivation. The following factors can be attributed to employee motivation in the workplace.
RECOGNITION AND APPRECIATION
“The deepest desire in human nature is to be appreciated” said William James. Employee need to be recognized and/or appreciated for them to be more productive and motivated. Apart from good wages and other financial rewards employee wants to be cared for personally by the employer.
INVOLVEMENT
One other way to motivate employees is to create an environment where employees have freedom to suggest ideas that can be valuable to organization. In that way the employees feel involved hence motivated and being productive. FINANCIAL
Employee motivation can be enhanced through financial incentives and good wages .Financial incentives may include allowances, bonuses paid to employees for the good job they did. SUPERVISOR SUPPORT
Employees are more likely to enjoy their work if they get adequate support from their supervisors. Immediate supervisors act as advocates for employees, gathering and distributing the resources needed by employees in order for them to be able to do a good job and providing positive encouragement for a job well done (Leslie Allan, 2008).
