Throughout history there have been different types of art were discovered. Paintings started in the inner walls of caves to magnificent sculptures that depicted realistic figures. Different artists had their own style and characteristics that separated them from each other. For example my top three favorite artists were Greek and used the Hellenistic style. Roman artists defined a new style with the implementation of the fourth wall paintings. French artists on the other hand developed the Romanesque style.
First, the Greek artist, from ancient Greece with Hellenistic art sculpture of Laocoon and his sons. This Greek artist took the Laocoon and his son’s sculpture to another level with Hellenistic style. Hellenistic art opened at the death of Alexander that started between 323 BCE. In addition, Hellenistic revolved around architecture and sculptures, giving them movement with pose, storytelling, and incorporate great detail. For example, Laocoon and his son’s sculpture sculpted each part of the male figures in a different form. Each sculpture showed different body types, different facial expressions, and sizes. It depicted movement. By looking at the sculpture is meant to tell a story how man is being attacked by an anaconda and the struggle between beast and human. This Greek artist really brought the sculpture to life by showing great detail.
Next, Roman artists, from the Roman Empire with the Fourth wall style of still life depicted peaches. The Roman artist fourth style wall painting is phenomenal and full of detail. The Fourth Wall style paintings is best described as architectural illusionism, which is when one thing looks distant but when you get close it is really looks different. The Roman artist was interested in illusionism which is why still life painting became popular. This style was amazing because they captured a scene and then painting what was observed....
