1.      Explain eight of the following terms in one or two sentences. (16 points)
 
a.       Sustainability- is the capacity to meet the need of the present generation without compromising the ability of generations to meet their need. Sustainability creates and maintains the conditions under which humans and nature can exist in productive harmony, that permit fulfilling the social, economic and other requirements of present and future generations.
 
b. Vulnerability – is susceptible to danger without means to be protected from that danger.
 
 
c. Employment at will- means that an employee can be terminated at any time without any reason. It also means that an employee can quit without reason
 
 
d. Due process- refers to the fairness of the procedures and organization uses to impose sanctions on employees.
 
 
e. The Hawthorne Effect- is an experiment to determine the effect of the work environment n worker productivity.
 
 
f. The cost effective strategy-
 
 
g. Conflict of interest- is when employees at any level have special or private interest that substantial enough to interfere with their job duties to make decisions or to act in ways that are detrimental to their employer’s interest.
 
 
h. Insider trading-is the buy or selling of stocks on the basis of nonpublic information that is likely to affect their price
 
 
i. Affirmative action-is a program designed to correct imbalances in employment that exist directly as a result of past discrimination.
 
 
j. Comparable worth-hold that women and men should be paid on the same scale, not only for doing the same or equivalent jobs but also for doing different jobs involving equal skills, effort and responsibility.
