First World Countries vs. Third World Countries

North vs. South – First World Countries vs. Third World Countries

It's kind of illogical to say that poverty in Third World countries is the fault of the First World countries, especially when the US, Canada, Europe and other developed countries have sent billions in development aid that has somehow "disappeared". The companies in the First World pay for the things they get from those other countries, but the money never gets to the people. To quote Cato Institute, “The First World nations are helping Third World governments cripple their economies, maul their environments, and oppress their people. Although the First World nations started with the highest ideals some 40 years ago, it now consistently does more harm than good for the worlds poorest.”(Cato Institute, page 1). What has been stated in this quote is that even though the First World nations have enough money to help another country, such as a Third World country, they do not help; instead they try to make as much profit off of them so they can excel with there very own wealth, leaving the other country to dry. If I had to choose sides on who is right and who is wrong, respectively I would have to choose the struggle the Third World nations are going through. But knowing the business side of me, what the First World nations are doing is simply taking advantage of the opportunity at stake and are profiting off of it. Looking at it this way is completely unmoral of me but please do think; the way any nation becomes a powerful nation is if they work hard for it. No one is rich just for the sake of being rich. You must work at it and overcome different obstacles as you move along. Sure it is the responsibility of the First World nations to guide the less fortunate nations into having the prosperity they have, but it is up to the third world nations to understand one another and elect proper leaders to lead there nation to greatness.
