Since the 1990’s, football has long crowned baseball as the most spectated sport in America. With their being only one professional football league in the United States, it has become a nationwide sensation when in season. The Super Bowl, or the championship game, is watched by close to half of the U
nited States becoming a traditional excuse to gather in the early part of the year. The money that is generated all over the country in the sport of football has shaped the NFL to become a $9 billion dollar enterprise. The popularity of football has created entertainment for a huge fan base all over, generated a large amount of jobs for student athletes as well as employees, and built dreams for young aspiring adolescents.
At the beginning of the season, the National Football League joins with all of its fans and viewers in celebrating the opening kickoff. During the football season, Sunday has become a national ritual in opening up your Sunday, putting on that football jersey, and rooting for the team you want to win. With a team in nearly every state, the fan base all over the country allows for all teams to enjoy the loud screaming fans that root at the game as well as home on their television sets. Jerseys are continuously bought year after year to help show the support for those teams. The entertainment of the National Football League allows for the bonding of individuals to share the enjoyment of the game of football and the team they are rooting for.
In order for that popularity to remain within the fans, it must remain within the players that generate those fans as well as the ones that make it possible week in and week out. With thirty two teams in the NFL, and each of those teams rosters required to hold 53 of the most talented football players on the market, the competiveness is kept at an all-time high.
